How It Works
Connect
By partnering with school districts and local schools, we identify students and families that are good candidates for our program. We are seeking students and families that are trying to overcome hardship.
Though this would definitely quality many families, what makes a family a right fit for our program is that they’ve already demonstrated a spirit of resilience, commitment and determination to positively change their lives. We’re just joining in their efforts by providing them with the additional support they need to be successful!
Assess & Plan
Through a series of assessments, we create a
“Life Transformation Plan”, by identifying the areas of improvement for each family and creating a plan for how to
equip and move the family in the direction of that positive change.
We partner with other
nonprofits and community service providers to equip our
families with tutoring,
training and counseling
services they need.
Our Program will partner with other community organizations to help students and families find support in the following areas.
1. Educational
2. Social-Emotional
3. Financial
4. Health & Nutrition
Homework
Once the Life Transformation Plan is created, every family member must actively participate and demonstrate their commitment to the transformation goals. This commitment is shown through consistent attendance at prescribed training, tutoring, and counseling sessions, as well as completing the required “homework” for a minimum of two (2) months. Only through dedication and ongoing effort can the full benefits of the transformation be realized, leading to lasting, positive change for the entire family.
Home Design Phase
Once the family has successfully demonstrated their commitment to the program and is making steady progress toward their goals, it’s time to get excited! The next step is the Home Design Phase.
Working closely with participating interior designers, we craft personalized home designs that reflect the family’s needs and aspirations.
With the support of our generous sponsors, we bring these designs to life, creating beautiful, functional spaces that foster growth, stability, and well-being for the entire family.
The Big Reveal
About 10-12 months after our first connection with the family, it’s time for the much-anticipated Big Reveal! The home is ready, but even more importantly, the family is ready to showcase the incredible work they’ve put into their life transformation journey.
With friends, family, and community members gathered together, our families will share their accomplishments and reflections during a special reception hosted by Giving Back by Design. Afterward, the family will have the emotional experience of seeing their newly designed home for the very first time.
This unforgettable event will be live-streamed so everyone can share in the joy and excitement. It’s thanks to the generous donations and sponsorships we receive that we are able to provide our participating families with this HGTV-style experience—something they may not have been able to afford otherwise.

Aftercare & WrapAround Support
Our commitment to families doesn’t end after the home makeover is complete. We provide ongoing aftercare and wraparound support to ensure that the transformation is lasting.
Families continue to receive guidance and resources through regular check-ins, additional training, and access to community partnerships that help maintain their progress.
From financial coaching to emotional support, we are here to ensure that every family has the tools and encouragement they need to thrive in their new environment.
